D-Marin, Turgutreis, Bodrum, Turkey

Updated: May 17, 2007

Turgutreis Marina has been constructed by a Dogus Group affiliate Dogus Turgutreis Marina Isletmeciligi Turizm ve Ticaret A.S. with in Municipality Boundaries of Turgutreis and starting from 60 m. south of existing jetty and extending for 650 m. on a riprapped area along the cost. Turgutreis Marina, has mooring capacity of 550 yachts plus dry-dock parking for 100 yachts. All the technical and social facilities for the yachts from the heavy weather and sea conditions is ensured with in the sheltered area inside the Main Breakwater of 890 m. and Secondary Breakwater of 357 m.

Turgutreis Marina offers an outstanding potential as it is located on the way of all sea vehicles sailing from Aegean to Meditteranean Sea and more over with the ferryboat quay built on the Secondary Breakwater it draws the residents and visitors of the Kos, Kalimnos and Patmos Islands that are very close to this Marina. No doubt this Marina is contributing economically and socially to the area as it is on the way of the blue voyage and is used by all yachts sailing between Bodrum Peninsula and Kusadasi-Datça-Marmaris and Fethiye.

After the opening of Bodrum Airport, the area became more attractive which will for sure increase the number of people boarding their yachts after an easy flight.

As the Marina is located on a coast line of 650 m. long in the middle of the town, the design is inevitably integrated in to the existing town settlement. In areas other than security, having the facilities open to public, having access to the food courts and shopping malls in the direction of the town main square, connection with the existing fishermen quay, concentration of buildings here and there leaving spaces in between and thus minimizing the wall effect, locating the technical areas as far as possible to the center, etc. were the main features of the planning.

On the main breakwater a long track open to public is arranged for walking and watching the sun-set. The fact of staying apart from the yachts due to security and consequently to be rather away from the sea has been eliminated by providing a small inner port. The shops and food courts are located around this inner port which can be walked through.

There is a small amphitheater for shows and resting. Front of the shops there is an arcade parallel to the sea and these small passages has planned perpendicular to the sea so as to provide access to the town and for air circulation.
