Doğuş Group believes marina operations is an area with a very high growth potential in Turkey and the region.

Maritime Tourism has made a major stride in the second half of the twentieth century in developed coastal states and the Mediterranean in particular.

All countries expecting revenue from yacht tourism have initially made investments in marinas. The human and yacht traffic that was generated led to the development of a society geared towards tourism.

While the economic and social developments in our age have enabled increasing numbers of people to travel; a shortening of the working week, extension of holidays as well as an increase in welfare and a rising interest in yachting have led the Doğuş Group to develop marinas that would cater not only to yachts but to establish integrated tourism facilities catering to yachters and their associates.

FACTS ABOUT THE MARINA ACQUIRED BY THE DOĞUŞ HOLDING THROUGH THE BUILD-OPERATE-TRANSFER (BOT) MODEL

Considered as the infrastructure of yacht tourism, Marinas were first included in the State Investment Programmes in the second 5 Year Development Plan (1968-1972) based on the importance of marinas in the tourism industry.

The state reinstated marinas in the investment programme in the early 90s. But in order to speed up the development of yacht tourism without allocating resources from the main budget, the Higher Planning Board decided that many marinas would be built in new and several centers based on the BOT model and the Ministry of Transport, Railways Sea and Air Ports Construction General Directorate was authorized to undertake the bidding process.

The following are the marina investments undertaken by the Doğuş Group as a result of the state tenders won by the Group.

Overseas investments launched also

Doğuş Group, accelerating its marina investments along its vision of becoming the regional power in this area, has signed its partnership agreement with the Croatian company NCP for its first overseas project. Doğuş Group, which is both the shareholder and the developing partner in the Marina&Yacht Club at Sibenik, a gem along the Dalmatian coast, has taken on the development with NCP of the existing marina with hotels and shopping areas as well as the building and construction of a 'mega yacht marina' where mega yachts longer than 30 metres will be able to moor. Aside from shareholding and partnership functions, the Group will assume the sole responsibility of the management of both marinas.
